Joining the Gym

  1. Complete an application form. Download one using the link below or pick one up at the Community Shop, 13 High Street, Belford, (open Tues-Sat 10-3).
  2. Return your completed form:
    • To the post box outside the Community Shop (to the left of the doorway)
    • By post to Belford Community Gym, c/o Belford Community Shop, 13 High Street, Belford, NE70 7NG
    • By email to: belfordcommunitygym@outlook.com
  3. Set up your payments. You will need to be allocated a fob number before setting up your standing order. We will contact you by email with your fob number and with instructions for setting up your standing order and arranging your induction.
  4. Complete your induction. All gym members must complete an induction so that they receive all the required safety information and understand their responsibilities as members of a Community Gym.  This ensures that all our members are covered by insurance in case of accidents and that the gym and its equipment are properly insured. Once you have completed your induction (1 hour) and signed the checklist which confirms you have received and understood the safety instructions for using the Gym, you will receive your fob and you can start using the Gym.

Get involved with running and improving the Gym

In December 2023, the BCG signed a twenty-year lease on the building ensuring that these facilities can be used for the foreseeable future. The Gym Committee meets monthly and is responsible, together with the Belford Community Group Trustees, for the maintenance and development of the gym. We are currently working on organising the renovation of a side room at the Gym, which will become an area for warming up, stretching, floor exercises, etc. We are keen to further develop the facilities and equipment available to continue to make it a real community asset and we welcome interested individuals getting involved to help us with:

  • Running day to day operations
  • Funding applications
  • Marketing and promotions
  • Co-ordinating repairs, quotes and contractors
  • Plans and ideas for future development projects in the gym.
